I’m serious! That’s what I saw on the side of the package on this ‘All New Celebrity Endorsed’, “Cookie Diet”.

Secret "Cookie Diet" of the Stars!

All these years I’ve coached clients and seminar participants on the benefits of supportive eating and proper nutrition for optimal fat lose and the real secret is in the cookies!

Apparently this has been a secret of the Hollywood stars for years, but is now available to rest of us.

So, here’s the scoop on this weight loss superstar!

The box recommends 4 cookies per day.

“Eat 1 cookie for Breakfast, 1 for a Mid-Morning snack, 1 for Lunch and 1 for a Mid-Afternoon Snack and a “Sensible” Dinner.

(I love when marketers use the word ‘sensible’, because this whole cookie diet makes NO SENSE!)

Note – If you remember, the old “Slim Fast shake commercials, their claim had the same wording. “Drink a Slim Fast shake for breakfast, another one for lunch and a “sensible” dinner.”

This makes sense... yeah, right!?!?

Now, for the let down…

I’m sorry to say that yes, this product is a bunch of crap!

Will you lose weight?

You sure will, but it’s not the weight you want to lose. Most of us want to lose fat in order to gain that toned sexy look, right?

If you use this diet for that purpose, you will ultimately fail to achieve your goal, fail to get into the dress size you desire and fail to build self-confidence.

Why?

This approach is considered a calorie restrictive diet. In short, the fewer calories you take in the less energy your body has to use for proper daily functioning.

Your vital systems, including your digestive system, cardiovascular system, which governs the daily functions of blood flow, heart and lung activity, are compromised due to the lack of proper nutrition.

All these organs and systems work without you consciously thinking about them, but they still need energy to operate… They need Calories!

Excessively restricting your caloric intake leaves your body with only muscle to burn and use as fuel.

This will ultimately decrease muscle tissue, slow metabolism and your body will increase its fat storage as a means of survival.

Plus, when your body begins to get too hungry, your Will-Power weakens, and you give in to the temptation for some sugary sweets. This will cause you to not only gain back the weight you lost; you will also gain additional weight. This extra weight gain is due to the body’s defense against the calorie restrictions you placed on it earlier.

Your body doesn’t know when it will receive another “supportive” meal, so it holds on to as many carbs and fats as possible in hopes to survive the next diet you try!

The best way to lose weight, burn fat and increase metabolism is to eat “supportively”. What does that mean?

To keep it brief for now, here are some simple guidelines to eating supportively…

Eat a starchy carbohydrate, fibrous carbohydrate and a lean protein with every meal. AKA, Trinity’s “Rule of Three”

Eat every three to three and half hours

Avoid or at the worst limit saturated fats

Avoid, or at least limit sugar. (ALL SUGAR)

Drink plenty of water.

If you are interested in additional information on Trinity’s “Rule of Three” here are some references to assist you.

We all have a story.

When we are talking to someone for the first time, trying to get to know them better, we tell our story.

If you are speaking in front of a group and use life experiences to help with a point, you’re telling your story.
When we are in the moment and have a major decision to make, we feel like that’s the world, right then and there.

But, if we a take a step back and look over our entire life, this is just one chapter in our story.

For example, when telling folks about my education, I might say, “I went to high school at Springs Academy and I graduated in 1993.”

But, is that it?

No.

There were 4 long years in high school. Major decisions were made.

Like who to hang out with,

Finding a job,

High school romance,

Tests,

Parties, etc.

Do you see my point?

A lot happens in high school and at the time it was the focal point of our story, but now it’s usually summed up into one or two sentences.

Same holds true with college. There were four, five or more years spent in college.

Again, you had to make major decisions. Decisions that felt almost impossible to make at the time.

What major to choose, do I stick with a particular major?

What company should I intern with?

Do I join a fraternity/sorority? Which one?

But, right now, when talking about college, we can sum it up in one or two sentences.

Right now you may be facing major decisions.

You’ve been laid off and would like to find a job. You keep telling yourself, “man, if one good job would come my way.” Instead, you have three to choose from.

Which one do you choose?

May be you’re in a relationship that isn’t going well.

Do you stay and try to “work it out” or do you part ways so both of you are happier?

What about this year?

Did you have a New Year’s resolution to lose weight, get in shape, or live healthier in 2009?

Is it happening for you? Are you taking the steps to make it happen?

What will this part of your story be like?

Will it be five or ten years summed up into one or two humdrum sentences or are you finally getting to the good part of your story full of action and excitement?

Major decisions are a part of life and they always will be regardless of the path you choose. It’s the direction you choose now that makes the difference in the next chapter of your life story.

Will you feel like a success at the end of your story, weaving into it details of struggle, lessons learned, and a triumphant win in the end? Or will it be another tragedy, like so many others, that choose to tip toe till the end and say, “should a, could a, would a?”

If fitness was one of your goals and you’ve let it slip up until now, you have a major decision to make.
Will you take action on the long and exciting journey to a healthier more productive life or will you choose the gloom and doom of your comfortable existence?

Either decision you make, it will have its struggles and challenges, but in the end, what story will you tell?

Self-Defense

Although we don’t like to think about it, violence is an unfortunate fact of life.

Effective self-defense is about agility, attitude, and awareness – three components that reinforce each other.

The stronger and more fit you are, and the quicker your reaction time, the more confident you are that you can react swiftly and creatively to threats – throwing a punch, aiming a kick, running away, or doing whatever it takes.

Trinity Self-Defense instructor, Steven Carter, assisting with kicking drills during an "Are You Prepared?" seminar

Confidence generates a “hands-off” attitude that can discourage would-be attackers.

The discipline and focus you develop while getting and staying in shape make you more alert, aware of activity in your immediate environment. That awareness increases your responsiveness to sudden moves, odd sounds, and other “danger cues” that require decisive action.

Disciplines such as tae kwon do and kickboxing teach excellent skills such as kicking and punching that can be applied to staying safe day-to-day.

Self-defense classes focus specifically on practical, simple moves to stave off attacks.

But whatever fitness activity you pursue, take time to think about the practical applications of the coordination, muscle strength and self-esteem you’re gaining.

Remember: ability, attitude and awareness can spell the difference between being a victim and becoming a criminal’s worst nightmare.

Not a hard choice to make.

Wednesday, September 2nd is the first night of Trinity’s “Are You Prepared?” 5 week course. We are offering $150 OFF the program. (regular price $399)

We only have 4 spots remaining!

This could very well be the last 5 week course of the year. Don’t put your safety on hold. It just may be too late!

Lack, Loss and Limitations

So many times we get into a rut of thinking about everything we would like to have, but don’t have.

Better yet rather than focusing on what we want, we focus more energy on what’s wrong with what we currently have.

It’s so easy in society today to gripe and complain right along with coworkers, family and friends on facebook about how pitiful life and our situations are.

There seems to be a new sub culture on facebook and other social media. Trinity member and client of mine, Shelley, who by the way is a “Super Star” coined the phrase, “Facebook Commiseration!” You can substitute and social media name for Facebook. You have Shelley’s permission.

I love it!

It seems every day I see on my homepage, “friends” complaining about being tired, it’s Monday, job sucks, my life sucks, I have to work out again, blah, blah, blah!

And to make it worse, your friends will agree with you or feel sorry for you giving you every reason to keep on feeling sorry for yourself!

It’s ridiculous how much b$$$$ing and moaning goes on every day.

I will let you in on a little secret; I remove complainers and hit the “view less of this person” option if someone continues to create negativity.

Most of us don’t realize nor except the fact that if we continue focusing energy and voicing negativity about ourselves and our situation, the more negative and bad our situation continues to become.

Rather than focusing on how fat and out of shape you are, redirect your focus on how thin you are or what size you want to be. Focus on the image of yourself already being thin, in shape, in a bikini at the beach or whatever feels right for you.

Instead of complaining about the economy and not having a job, get out there, hit the streets and start networking! At the very least, there are always minimum wage jobs out there while you find the next major career opportunity.

Just the other day, here at Trinity, one member was looking for a job and another just happen to be looking for someone exactly like the job seeking member.

Was it Synchronicity?

I say YES!

Trinity promotes that type of positive culture throughout the classes, programs and members.

It will make it much easier to work towards your goal if you believe and think positively about its attainment.

So, no more lack, loss and limitation.

Focus on Wealth, Health and Abundance!

ATTENTION – this is a disclaimer before you read today’s post. I’m taking off the gloves on this one.
For those of you who know me, this isn’t going to be shocking. But, for you new to my blog, my philosophy on training and how we do things, you’re either going to be pleasantly surprised by my “no holds barred” approach to fitness and weight loss or you’ll unsubscribe to protect your bed wetting and cry baby ways.

So, if you’re really ready, read on…

A new report, “F as in Fat: How Obesity Policies Are Failing in America 2009” just released that there are 4 states in the U.S. that have reached an obesity level of 30%.

For the last five years, Mississippi has won the “Fattest State in the Union” award. (That’s not a real award. I thought it was appropriate.)

Mississippi has the highest rate of adult obesity at 32.5 percent. Now added to the “Plus Size” category is Alabama (31.2 percent), West Virginia (31.1 percent) and Tennessee (30.2 percent)

Two thirds of the adult population, in the U.S., is considered obese or overweight!

This is freakin’ ridiculous!

When are people going to get it?

If you keep shoving Twinkies, doughnuts, sodas and other fast food items into your chubby little mouths, you’re going to get fatter!

It’s similar to the saying, “the rich get richer and the poor stay poor.” If you keep doing certain things in a certain way, you will continue to see the same result. Whether it’s good or bad, the end result is what you’ve been putting in.

We see these statistics and think “WOW” that’s scary, but we do nothing about it.

What’s it going to take to get people to turn off the television, off the couch and to start moving?

The first step is action! And I don’t mean the actions people have been taking up to this point.

I mean get out and start moving.

Even if it’s only walking in the evenings, riding a bike to work or taking the stairs, this is better than nothing.

This will increase blood flow, oxygen will be pumped throughout the body more efficiently and will also burn some extra calories.

You will need additional exercise and a structure workout routine to achieve an overall goal of weight loss and see real change, but to start the ball rolling, moving around more will be a great start.

The second step is nutrition.

We have to stay away from fast foods and start cooking meals at home again.

Yes, I said again.

Unless you’re one of these new parents, from the XYZ generation (or whatever they call it now) that have only fed yourself fast food and now feeding your children the same crap, you had to have had some home cooked meals growing up.

If you can’t cook, learn. There are so many easy recipe books out there, including Trinity’s Fit Eats! And Fit Eats! 2 cook book series.

You can find these cook books at Fit Eats! and Fit Eats! 2

This is only the beginning, but it’s a great start!

Get moving TODAY,

Start eating better TODAY,

And you will see significant changes in the way you feel and the way you look!

Guaranteed!

If you’re interested in a structured program that can assist you with a fast and easy jump start to your fitness and nutrition routine, Trinity’s Take 21 – 21 Day Transformation program is where you should start.

Check it out at Take 21.

Learning how to bring an attacker down to size!

You’ve studied for a test, a presentation at work or trained for a sporting event.

When it was time to act, your preparation gave you the confidence in your ability to perform under the pressure,
but, what about in a self-defense situation?

What would happen if today, after work, you were approached by someone as you walked to your car?

What would you do if someone stopped you at your doorstep and pushed you into your house?

What would happen if at a stop light, you find yourself sitting next to a carjacker who just got in the unlocked passenger side of your car?

What would you do?

Are you prepared for these and many other situations you could find yourself in at anytime?

We successfully completed another 5 week course last Wednesday June 24,2009. This was the third course this year.
Normally we only have three per year.

Why did we decide to add another one to the schedule?

Because women are calling in and wanting to take action NOW!!

We hear from government officials, crime is under control, but is it really?

While police say crime is under control, Ga. Tech students are being held at gun point and robbed in their houses, women are being attacked in their apartment complexes and people can’t even walk to local attractions (Centennial Olympic park) without being held up and robbed.

So, what can you do about it?

What steps can you take to make sure you and your family is protected?

Don’t leave your safety and the safety of those around you to anyone else.

Take responsibility for yourself!

These women are prepared!

Feel empowered,

Build self-confidence,

And learn real techniques that can save your life if you have to fight back!
