Tough Questions…

In lieu of several “whinny people” asking why they can’t seem to lose weight and get the results they originally discussed with me, here are some questions you should stop and ask yourself if you don’t seem to be getting what you want. (Yeah, this may strike a cord with many people. I’m not writing about any one person in particular. However, if the shoe fits, (and it’s in your closet) it’s probably yours!)

Ask youself....why?

Why do you continue to make short term decisions that blow any chance of long-term success?

Why do you continue to eat junk food when you want to lose fat?

Why do you watch so much TV when you know you should be exercising?

Why do you hide or even deny your goals when you know that support will help you succeed?

When you don’t follow the program set for you, why do you blame others when you’re irresponsible?

Why DO you constantly look out the window when you should be looking in the mirror?

The reason most people fail to see any goal come to pass… is that, “Too many people give up the pursuit of their long term dreams and goals for the short term gratification of the the moment. “

Rather than me responding to these questions, I’m interested to see what you have to say.

Add your comments, thoughts and anything else you’d like to say below.

Could YOU be making yourself fatter?

Now, I know what you might be thinking.

“Duh, of course I am! I don’t need you to tell me that.”

But, the obvious: eating fast food every day, not working out on a regular basis and skipping meals, isn’t exactly what I’m talking about.

I mean, what if YOU (your body) are making you fat.

The infomercials tried to address this issue several years ago, but did a poor job explaining it.  On top of that, they blamed your body and told you the answer was in a pill that cost $150 per bottle.

Save your $$$ it's not worth it!

Remember this infomercial?

If you’ve attended any of Trinity’s seminars on nutrition and fat loss, you’ve been introduced to the idea of you and your body making you fatter.

What I’m talking about is Cortisol.

What’s that? Cortisol is a hormone in your body. A stress hormone.

When you are stressed, Cortisol is released.

Why? (I’m glad you asked)

“Back in the day,” when cavemen were roaming the earth they would have an occasional encounter with a dinosaur or another animal larger than themselves.

Have you ever heard the phrase “fight or flight?”

Cortisol plays a part in it.

Cortisol and Adrenaline are released to give a short burst of increased strength and endurance.

You can either stay and fight of the attack or run really, really fast and leave the danger far behind.

And that is where “fight or flight” came from.

Now, if there is a threat and you do have to run then everything in the body is normalized again after the excess of both the Cortisol and Adrenline are used.  However, if there’s continued stress on the body and no signs of an outlet for the two hormones to work properly, YOU will store the excess as fat.

For example,

Stressed Out!!!

YOU are late for work due to traffic…. STRESS

YOU spill coffee on your dress and have an important meeting…. STRESS

YOUR boss is angry because YOU didn’t have the report completed on time…. STRESS

YOU don’t know if you will have a job tomorrow or the next day, or the next…. STRESS

YOU’RE fighting with your significant other… STRESS

and on

and on

and on it goes.

These aren’t considered life threatening events so Cortisol will not be used properly. It will cause more stress on the body and cause you to store fat.

So, YOU are making yourself fatter!

But, there’s an easy fix for this too.

There are tips and techniques that will help you to use these hormones in order to keep them from having negative effects on your body.

The easy answer is relax, breathe and unwind.

Here are some ways to accomplish that…

Slow, deep breathing. Usually 10 – 20 repetitions work great.

Listening to soft music (or any music that helps you relax)

Meditating

Relax

Laughing

Taking a short nap

Closing your eyes (no interruptions) and visualizing the events (past, present or future) the way you intend for them to happen. It only takes 2 to 5 minutes.

Taking a walk

Lifting weights

Cardiovascular exercise

Yoga

Proper nighttime sleep

Taking a hot bath

….do you get the point?

You need to find things, simple things, you can do (the more the better) to relax. Then when times get tough, call a time out and do one of these to get you back to a relaxed state.

Lack, Loss and Limitation…

Lack, Loss and Limitations

So many times we get into a rut of thinking about everything we would like to have, but don’t have.

Better yet rather than focusing on what we want, we focus more energy on what’s wrong with what we currently have.

It’s so easy in society today to gripe and complain right along with coworkers, family and friends on facebook about how pitiful life and our situations are.baby-crying

There seems to be a new sub culture on facebook and other social media. Trinity member and client of mine, Shelley, who by the way is a “Super Star” coined the phrase, “Facebook Commiseration!” You can substitute and social media name for Facebook. You have Shelley’s permission.

I love it!

It seems every day I see on my homepage, “friends” complaining about being tired, it’s Monday, job sucks, my life sucks, I have to work out again, blah, blah, blah!

And to make it worse, your friends will agree with you or feel sorry for you giving you every reason to keep on feeling sorry for yourself!stop_complaining_start_training_tshirt

It’s ridiculous how much b$$$$ing and moaning goes on every day.

I will let you in on a little secret; I remove complainers and hit the “view less of this person” option if someone continues to create negativity.

Most of us don’t realize nor except the fact that if we continue focusing energy and voicing negativity about ourselves and our situation, the more negative and bad our situation continues to become.

Rather than focusing on how fat and out of shape you are, redirect your focus on how thin you are or what size you want to be. Focus on the image of yourself already being thin, in shape, in a bikini at the beach or whatever feels right for you.jeans and stomach front view

Instead of complaining about the economy and not having a job, get out there, hit the streets and start networking! At the very least, there are always minimum wage jobs out there while you find the next major career opportunity.

Just the other day, here at Trinity, one member was looking for a job and another just happen to be looking for someone exactly like the job seeking member.

Was it Synchronicity?

I say YES!

Trinity promotes that type of positive culture throughout the classes, programs and members.

It will make it much easier to work towards your goal if you believe and think positively about its attainment.

So, no more lack, loss and limitation.

Focus on Wealth, Health and Abundance!

Fat Kids!

It’s the children that are suffering from fat minded parents!

There are 30, yes 30 states with more than 30% of the children categorized as obese! Fat Kid wrestler

Did you know that the majority of 6th through 9th graders right now will not outlive their parents?

The onset of adult diabetes in children is on the rise!

Wait, on the rise? Why are children being diagnosed with adult diabetes in the first place?

What the “H***” are you doing to your children? This is the future of your family, the future of our country and our legacy.

Rather than educate them and get them out of the house, you’d rather sit them in their rooms to play video games and surf the internet. Feed them frozen dinners and snacks and hope they don’t disturb you for the rest of the evening.

If you’re a parent, stop reading and look at your children. Fat kids at Mc Donalds

Are they fat?

If the answer is anything but no, then take a long look in the mirror and realize YOU are killing them!

You should be arrested for manslaughter!

It’s not their fault.

You decided to have kids. Take responsibility right now and start creating a better life for them and yourself.

Parents ask me after hearing me speak at a seminar or completing our Nutrition Boot Camp, “How do I get “junior” to eat healthier foods?”

Obviously it’s taken you some time to change. It will be the same for your kids too.

If you’ve been feeding them fast food and other junk for several years and expect them to change overnight, you’re in for a rude awakening, my friend.

Just like anything, this is going to take time.

But, we as a society (considered at one time “a long time ago!” to be the healthiest in the world) MUST step up and take control of this situation. fat-babies

We have so much information and technology at our finger tips and we can’t figure out how to stop growing fat kids.

Maybe there’s where the problem lies.

Too much technology and information!

Here’s a great quote from the Simpsons. charles_montgomery_burns

Mr. Burns: “I don’t like being outdoors Smithers, for one thing, there’s too many fat children.”

In order for us as a society, as a world at large, to get the obesity epidemic under control, we have to “get back to basics!”

When it comes to nutrition, we have fast food and quick weight loss on the same corner.

There was a study that asked teenagers and adults why they picked fast food?

The 4th most popular answer was taste!

The first three were quick, easy and cheap!

Quick, easy and cheap are no way to get lasting results in anything you do, especially fitness and exercise.

I tell people all the time when it comes to paying for personal training or a gym membership, “you’ll either pay now or pay later. But, if you pay later, just like a credit card, it will be with interest!”

So, what do you do now?

Throw away all that junk food in the house. Tell them we’ll have one cheat day a week.

Turn off the television and get those kids out moving!

To begin, I don’t care if it’s nightly walks as a family, but you’ve got to start somewhere.

If you need help, we (Trinity) are here for you!

We have programs for adults as well as children. If you want to schedule a time to talk, call us at 404.966.KICK (5425) for a consultation.

It’s up to you how you’ll live your life.

It’s your responsibility to guide your children on how to live theirs!
